LAHORE – Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor has said that agreements for the sale of 1.478 million tonnes of wheat have been finalised out of which the food department has so far released 100,000 tonnes of wheat to different private parties. While the remaining stock will be lifted by the parties concerned by April 30, this year, the Minister said in a statement.
He said that government will not increase the price of wheat despite the increase in rates of this commodity in international market and wheat will be provided to the consumer on the settled price of Rs 1,000 per maund. Ghafoor added that the government will ensure provision of quality food to the masses under ‘Punjab Food Safety and Standards Act 2011.’
