WAPDA down SSGC as Salman Akbar suspended

LAHORE – Qasim, Navy and WAPDA won their respective matches, while Amry were held to a draw in the 58th National Hockey Championship, which is in progress at Faisalabad Hockey Stadium. Port Qasim beat Steel Mills 2-1, Navy defeated PTV 1-0 and WAPDA edged SSGC 4-2. Army and HBL remained even as their match ended in a 1-all draw.
Meanwhile, Salman Akbar, goalkeeper of the SSGC team has been suspended by the Tournament Director for one match after he misbehaved with the umpires. Another four matches will be played on February 2 with WAPDA facing PTV at 0900hrs, NAVY taking on NBP at 1100hrs, Steel Mill meeting SSGC at 1300 hrs and Port Qasim playing PIA at 1500 hrs.
