LAHORE – The Merlin is an international medical aid organsation, known for delivering emergency medical aid and reviving health services. With an experience of aid work in the 2005 earthquake-hit areas, Merlin also is providing the much needed medical assistance to people in the areas ravaged by the last July’s floods.
A press statement issued here on Tuesday said Merlin has been implementing essential health services to over two million people in Kashmir, Balochistan, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), KP and Sindh. The health programmes have an emphasis on acute respiratory infection, skin infection, malaria and malnutrition. Merlin is also working for malaria prevention, malnutrition screening and distribution of nutritional supplements and distribution of hygiene kits.
The statement said Merlin has over 1,700 staff working in Pakistan. The NGO has treated over 1,090,899 patients since the flooding. They are providing essential health services to over two million people. There are 17 mobile health units (MHUs) working in remote areas to bring health care to isolated populations. Merlin has established 98 static health facilities (SHFs) including 14 labour rooms.
