FAISALABAD – The city traffic police in coordination with Honda Atlas Company started a traffic awareness programme titled ‘Roshan Punjab campaign’ for motor cyclists. The safety campaign was started to convey a message to motorcyclists that they should not risk their life or the life of others by riding a motorcycle with faulty lights at night.
The campaign sponsored by Honda Atlas offered motorcyclists to bring their motorcycles with faulty lights at the Honda camp at Abdullahpur Chowk and the company will undertake the repair of their lights free of charge. Roshan Punjab Campaign was inagurated by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Faisalabad Sardar Muhammad Asif Khan, Citizens Police Liasion Committee (CPLC) Deputy Chief Junaid Ahmed and Honda Atlas Safety Manager Tasleem Shuja at a ceremony at Abdullahpur Chowk which was attended by a large number of citizens especially the motorcyclists.
The CTO briefed the audience about the Raod Safety scheme launched to save the public lives and appealed the public to get a free rapir of motor cycle lights at the venue. Tasleem Shuja said that Honda’s participation in the scheme is just to save the motor cyclists from preventable road accidents occurring due to no lights. The CPLC deputy chief said it was their objective to reinforce coordination with the public and “we are determined to support the traffic police towards their mission of road safety.”
The Roshan Punjab scheme has received a tremendous response from the public and during the three-day campaign 5,000 motorcycle lights were repaired by the Honda team free of cost. CTO Asif Khan says that following the success of the campaign, it has been decided to extend the programme at tehsil level. The extended programme was launched in Jarranwala on Tuesday (today) and Samundary on February 6. A special camp at Shiekhupura Road in Khurarrianwala will be set up on February 9.
