Rs 16m gold ornaments stolen

FAISALABAD – A dacoit gang broke into a jewellery shop at Saturday night and took away a large quantity of gold ornaments worth Rs 16 million. Reportedly, the organised gang entered the sho of Shahzad Gold Jewellers from the roof after drilling a large hole, emptied all shelves and iron safes and took 200 tolas of gold jewellery worth Rs 16 million.
Sarafa Bazaar Chiniot is the busiest commercial centre. Surprisingly, there were no watchman or CCTV cameras in the shop for the protection of a huge amount of gold. A few hours after the incident, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Aftab Ahmed Cheema was in Chiniot to chair a meeting of senior police officers to urge them to do their best to have an effective system of crime control in the city. After the incident, the traders of Sarafa Bazaar Chiniot closed their shops in protest.
Rs 15m rice shipment seized: A businessman announced Rs 400,000 cash reward for the police after they recovered a stolen shipment of Rs 15 million. The consignment loaded in a container was snatched by a gang from Jhang Road when it was in transit. The details of the police hunt were revealed during a press conference held by SSP Operations Dr Usman Anwar, SP Lyallpur Town Rai Zameer-ul-Hassan and SHO Ghulam Muhammad Abad Nasir Chattha.
The SSP Operation announced that Ghulam Muhammad Abad police had recovered a container of rice stolen three days ago. The gang leader along with his accomplices was also arrested during the raid while the gang confessed to a series of container robberies. The police claimed to have recovered 300 bags of stolen sugar stock from their possession as well. The total recoveries were worth Rs 15 million.
The SSP told the press that the container owner, Muhammad Zubair, had announced a cash donation of Rs 300,000 for Police Welfare Fund and another Rs 100,000 for SHO Ghulam Mohammad Abad Nasir Chattha for his performance.
FIRING IN BILLIARD CLUB LEAVES 3 INJURED: A scuffle in a billiard club led to a fight which left three men critically injured. A scuffle arose between Irfan and Kashif groups at a billiard club in Rangeela Chowk, Ghulam Mohammad Abad. One of the groups opened fire. As a result, Irfan and Kashif and an unknown person were injured.
TEENAGER wounded WHILE WORKING ON MACHINE: The right hand of a 17-year-old labourer was badly crushed after it got stuck in the machine. The right hand of Muhammad Adeel, a resident of Chak No 209 RB, tehsil Jaranwala, an employee of a dying factory, got stuck in a dying machine. His colleague switched off the machine immediately and pulled his hand out of it. The victim was admitted to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
TWO MINOR BONDED HOUSEMAIDS RECOVERED: Police raided the house of a businessman and recovered two young sisters, working as bonded housemaids in the house but the girls are not willing to prosecute the accused businessman. According to details, complainant Muhammad Mansha, a resident of Chak No. 50, lodged a written complaint to SP Lyallpur Town Rai Zameer-ul-Hassan, saying that his two teenage daughters Khalida and Bushra were forced to work as bonded labourers in the house of a businessman, Haji Mushtaq, in Liaqatabad.
Jhang Bazaar SHO Rana Farrukh Waheed raided the house and recovered the minor girls from the house. The accused businessman Haji Mushtaq told the police that he had paid Rs 20,000 to the family of the girls through their agent Ghafoor alias Kala and denied the bonded labour charges. Police handed over the girls to their father Muhammad Mansha.
The girls have not levelled any charge of abuse or mistreatment against the accused businessman and were not interested in legal proceedings against him.
