LAHORE – The federal government has sanctioned Rs 120 for the Pakistan Hockey Federation and has promised to increase the amount in the next year to meet the PHF’s demand of Rs 500 million. The PHF executive board in its last meeting approved a budget of Rs 500 million with a deficit of Rs 300 million.
PHF secretary Asif Bajwa had said that they will raise the deficit amount from different quarters and would ask the government to come to its support. It has been learnt that the govt has already approved Rs 120 million for the remaining period of the fiscal year and has promised to fulfil the PHF’s demand in the next year.
The hockey team after winning the Asian Games gold medal has set its sights on next World Cup. The team is also preparing for the 2012 Olympics in London and the Champions Trophy. Besides, in the preparatory tours, Pakistan team will visit Europe for a couple of test matches and play four-nation tournament in Ireland before taking part in the Olympics.
