‘No one is ready to listen to facts regarding blasphemy law’

LAHORE – No one is ready to listen to logical facts regarding the blasphemy law and the print and electronic media is dominated by right-wing journalists who are responsible for spreading extremism in society, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Information Secretary Fauzia Wahab said on Monday.
She was talking to journalists after launching ceremony of regular transmission of radio channel FM 97.6 at the Kinnaird College for Women. Fauzia said that case of killing of three Pakistanis by American Raymond Davis was under investigation and handing over the American national to the US will be decided by the Foreign Office.
She said that there is no tax evader in parliament and if somebody was involved in tax evading and giving wrong statements about his assets he could go to courts. The PPP information secretary said that Pakistan was facing manifold challenges and journalists with extremist ideas are not ready to accept any argument based on logic regarding the blasphemy law.
Earlier, Fauzia attended inauguration ceremony of regular transmission of radio Kinnaird FM 97.6 at the Hladia Hall where KC Principal Rukhsana David, Former KC principal Mira Phaibus and Media Studies Department Head Shazia Saeed were also present. The PPP information secretary and her delegation were first taken to the radio station where she cut the ribbon as the inauguration gesture.
After the inauguration, Fauzia also recorded a radio massage for the college, which the media extensively covered it. Her delegation included prominent personalities such as PPP Deputy Information Secretary Haider Zaman Qurashi, Jawad Hassan and PPP MPA Shabina Riaz Sheikh. Addressing students, the PPP information secretary congratulated the Shazia Saeed and her radio team.
Fauzia said that she was honoured to be part of the ceremony and KC students have a bright future. She said that college has produced big names such as Asma Jahangir, Bapsi Sidhwa, Attiya Inayatullah and Muneeza Hashmi. Talking about the media, she said that Radio Kinnaird will give us light of knowledge, wisdom, harmony and order.
Fauzia said that Radio Kinnaird will produce future anchors, editors and media analysts. The PPP information secretary said that youth could play a pivotal role in ensuring a bright future of the country.
