Labourer killed over resisting robbery

KASUR – Four robbers killed a labourer during a dacoity bid in village Nandka Takiya in the precincts of Sheikham Police Station. Reportedly, Mumtaz Ahmad and other workers were returning from a textile mill after discharging their duty. When they reached near the village, four robbers intercepted them, looted cash and a mobile phone from Haider, Ramzan and Rafiq.
They shot dead Mumtaz when he resisted the robbery. Later, villagers and workers protested against the police after placing the dead body in the middle of the road, burnt tyres and chanted slogans against the incident.
GIRL SOLD THRICE RECOVERED FROM BROTHEL: A-Division police recovered a newly married girl from a brothel. According to the police, Ramzan married a 17-year-old girl Razia Bibi, a resident of Kot Murad Khan, a week ago, kept her in a hotel in Lahore and, later, sold her to a woman for Rs 30,000. The girl was sold thrice by the woman to Zulfiqar Ali. On the complaint of the girl’s parents, the police raided different places, recovered her and arrested all the accused.
DIG GIVES RS 3M TO MARTYRED COP’S FAMILY: Sheikhupura Range DIG Rai Altaf handed over a cheque of Rs three million to the family of constable Muhammad Shahbaz martyred in the Lahore blast a few days ago. The DIG went to the residence of the deceased at Sangla Hill, handed over the cheque to his family and offered fateha for the departed soul.
FOUR DACOITS ARRESTED: Phoolnagar police claimed to have arrested four robbers involved in many dacoities.Reportedly, the police raided various places, arrested Sher Ali, Safdar, Babar and Imran Farooq and recovered two guns, a motorcycle and 3-kg charas.
NEWBORN’S BODY FOUND: The city police recovered the body of an infant girl from Kaali Pul in the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station. Reportedly, someone threw the body of a newborn into the garbage. On the report of residents, the police seized the body and started investigation.
