Kinnaird girls clinch Inter-Dist Cricket title

LAHORE – Kinnaird Club won the 5th Regional Inter-District Senior Women’s Cricket Tournament beating Garrison Club in the final here on Monday. KC took full advantage of the home conditions to overpower Garrison Club by five wickets.
Garrison Club decided to bat and gathered 114 runs in 35.1 overs. Sidra Nawaz scored 36. Zeba 10 and Sabahat 13 were the other players who reached double figures. Mehwish with two wickets was the pick of the bowlers while five girls were run out.
In reply Kinnaird Club raced to 116 in 27.5 overs losing five wickets. Faryal Awan played lead role with the bat by scoring 29 runs while Mehwish made 22 and Bushra remained not out at 10 along with Faryal, who was later named the player of the final.
Zeba got two wickets for 25. Earlier, Komal Feroze and Sidra Amin with 18 and 13 runs respectively provided a useful opening wicket stand for the win. The match was supervised by Javed Iqbal and Mohamamd Asif while Masood Ahmed was the scorer.
Ms Bushra Aitzaz, chairperson PCB women wing, was the chief guest and gave the prizes to the winners. Meanwhile, the Lahore region representative Ms Nausheen also announced a list of 30 probables selected during the championship. She said that the players were invited for camp training which starts from today at the Kinnaird College ground.
“They have been asked to report to the camp commandant at 10 am,” she added. The selected players: Komal Feroze, Namra Imran, Faryal Awan, Hina Azam, Mehwish Tariq, Bakhtawar Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Elizbeth Khan, Farah Naeem, Bushra Ashraf, Farzana Shafi, Zaiba Manzoor, Sabahat Rasheed, Ayesha Qazi, Sidra Nawaz, Mahlika Mansoor, Nazia Sadiq, Fareeha Mehmood, Aroosha Malik, Razia Malik, Matyam Butt, Madiha Rajput, Maha, Rafique, Shaheen Abdul Samad, Mayam Muzaffar, Erum Javed, Hafa Amjad, Zainesh and Sadia Abid.
