GUJRANWALA – The protest of lessees has forced Gujranwala Development Authority DG Hakim Ali Doultana not to terminate agreements of lease. DCO Barrister Nabil Ahmad Awan had directed the GDA DG to seal all its properties at GDA Plaza by terminating all lease agreements and relocate new agreements in accordance with the Local Government Act 2007.
Though the GDA issued notices to all the lessees to vacate the shops and offices till January 31, but they started agitation, forcing the DG not to sign termination of agreements. The lessees are of the view that they have paid huge amounts to the GDA for lease agreements and in the presence of the provision of 25% hike in the rents after every three years, there was no need to terminate the agreements and new auctions of their established offices and shops.
