LAHORE – The federal government should not increase fuel prices otherwise a “tsunami of inflation” will hit the country, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Pervaiz Malik said on Sunday.
In a press statement, he said that the federal government would not be allowed to increase fuel prices on the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) pressure and if people come on the roads following protests in Tunisia, Egypt and Yemen, rulers would have to quit power.
The PML-N MNA warned rulers that in such a situation, people would not allow them to flee the country. Pervaiz said that the national economy is suffering due to wrong policies of the federal government. He said that if the federal government wants to deliver to the masses, it should implement the 10-point agenda of the PML-N adding that the federal government is implementing the agenda very slowly.
The PML-N MNA said that people be provided relief immediately and the federal government always gave a non-serious response to the PML-N. He accused the federal government of having no economic vision and agenda. Pervaiz said that size of the federal cabinet and government expenditures be decreased, which would help decrease the sense of deprivation among people.
The PML-N MNA said that the federal government, during its three year rule, did not take any positive step to restore confidence of local and foreign investors, while electricity and gas load shedding was also continuing. He said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led federal government could not hide its incompetence and failure by blaming policies of former president Pervez Musharraf.
