Fire erupts in Defence S Block house

LAHORE – Valuables worth Rs 1.5 million were reduced to ashes when a fire erupted in a house located in Defence Police Station precincts on Sunday. According to details, the fire erupted due to short-circuit in Abdul Majeed’s house located in 155 S-Block Defence Housing Authority (DHA) close to the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif (240-S) due to which appliances, furniture and valuables were reduced to ashes but no casualties were reported.
According to police, firefighters extinguished the fire after two hours, as flames had engulfed most of the house. Separately, an elderly man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Shahdara Town Police Station precincts. According to details, an unidentified man was found dead and police and local residents made several announcements to trace his heirs but of no avail. According to police, the man might have been a drug addict and died of an overdose. The body was shifted to the morgue for autopsy.
Also on Sunday, a boy died after accidentally falling from his house’s roof in the Harbanspura Police Station precincts. Victim Muhammad Irfan, 10, son of Ali Asghar, was critically injured when he fell from the roof while playing. He was rushed to the Khawaja Sharif Hospital from where he was being shifted to the General Hospital after his condition was reported to be serious, but he succumbed to his injures. The body was handed over to his family for burial.
A man was killed and another critically injured when a car crushed them in the Wahdat Road Police Station precincts. According to details, two motorcyclists were crushed by a rashly-driven car near the Rehmanpura bus stop. One of them died on the spot and the other was shifted to the Services Hospital in a critical condition while the car driver managed to flee. According to police, both men could not be identified yet and the injured was still unconscious.
