ISLAMABAD – Around 300 kiosks have been illegally allotted to influential people over the past 3 years by some officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Pakistan Today has learnt.
Originally, 100 kiosks were built and allotted to poor people with low incomes on merit. “But during the past three years 300 kiosks have been allotted to some influential people in direct violation of policy,” said the source, adding that chairman CDA, taking serious notice of irregular allotments, had ordered an inquiry.
However, CDA’s Deputy Director Public Relations (DDPR) Ramzan Sajid, when contacted, denied allotment of kiosks to influential people, saying that around 250 stalls had been removed from the Red zone and ‘relocated’ in other areas of the city because of security reasons. DDPR also did not have any information regarding the inquiry.
