KARACHI – Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday reiterated that the government believes in politics of reconciliation rather than vengeance but it should not be considered its weakness. He expressed these views while talking to journalists after meeting PML-F leader Pir Pagara at the Kingri House on Friday.
He also said that the reshuffling in the federal cabinet will be made according to the 18th Amendment. Replying to a question, the premier said he did not want to comment on the Karachi operation but to restore law and order in the city, the provincial government was taking proper steps. “I have come to Karachi to meet Pir Pagara Sahab and take guidance as I respect him for his sheer wisdom,” said Gilani.
The malaise of corruption needs to be exterminated by collective efforts of judiciary, legislature and administration, the prime minister said. Regarding the murder of Pakistanis on Thursday evening at Qurtaba Chowk in Lahore by an American national, reportedly an employee of American Consulate, Gilani said he strongly condemned the incident, adding that the culprits would be dealt according to the Pakistani laws, while methodical and high-level investigations will be made to expose the shocking incident.
Later at the Sindh Governor’s House, Gilani said the challenges confronting the country demanded political synergy and collective vision.
