Old Ravians beat VC XI in festival match

LAHORE – The Old Ravians XI on Friday beat the Vice Chancellor’s XI by 58 runs at the festival annual cricket match at the Government College University Lahore’s Oval Ground. Old Ravians, under the captaincy of former Test cricketer Saleem Malik, decided to bat first after winning the toss.
Old Ravians scored 171 runs in 15 overs. Batting maestro and distinguished Old Ravian Saleem Malik scored a quick fire 88 runs off just 42 balls. His innings included 8 fours and 6 sixes. Bilal Ahmed also contributed towards the gigantic score with a fine knock of 47 runs.
Chasing a challenging total of 171 runs, Vice Chancellor’s XI could not face the heat and surrendered after scoring 113 runs in 14 overs. Wickets fell at regular intervals, which added to the difficulties faced by the losing team. Azhar Iftikhar (42) and Yousaf Bashir (27) were the only batsmen to show some resistance.
Sports Director Prof Khadim Ali Khan added 21 crucial runs to the score, but in vain. Saleem Malik picked up 3 wickets for Old Ravians. Bilal Ahmad took two stunning catches, summing up the Old Ravians’ brilliance in fielding.
