SAHIWAL – Samdi Bibi of Chak No 85/6R, frustrated by the unemployment of her husband Muhammad Siddiq, committed suicide. Reportedly, her husband had been jobless for several months. On the day of the incident, she took poisonous pills and fainted. She was taken to the DHQ hospital where she died.
POLICEMAN MARTYRED IN LAHORE BLAST BURIED: Constable Asif Nawaz, a resident of Chak No 106/7-R, Sahiwal, who was also martyred in the Lahore suicide blast a couple of days back, was buried here with full honour. Guard of honour was presented to him while his funeral procession was attended by all the police officials. After his burial, the Sahiwal DPO, talking to reporters, said the late Asif Nawaz had sacrificed his life for the country. His family would be given all benefits and financial assistance as announced by the Punjab chief minister.
Cash and valuables snatched: Cash, gold ornaments and other valuables, including a car, a motorcycle and a mobile phone were snatched in three incidents. In the first incident that happened near Dipalpur Bazaar, robbers lifted the car of one Asghar Ali and escaped. In the second incident which occurred near Chak No 84/5L where unidentified robbers stopped Iftikhar and his sister at gunpoint and snatched gold ornaments, cash and a mobile phone and escaped In the last incident that took place at Chak No 109/12L where Shiraz and his two accomplices snatched a motorcycle from Mansab Ali at gunpoint and escaped.
Minor raped, killed: Nazia, a 10-year-old daughter of a labourer, Barkat Masih of village Harrapa, was raped and killed. Reportedly, class-five student Nazia went to her academy. When she did not came back after a long time, her parents started to locate her, but they found her dead body. She was allegedly raped and then killed by Aleem and Ameen of the same village. Both the accused are at large while the police are conducting raids for their arrest.
