LAHORE – The project of the urban transport buses will be implemented from February 2, 2011, inaugurated by the advisor to chief minister and Lahore Transport Company Chairman Khawaja Ahmed Hassan, and operational subsidy will be given to old and new urban buses in the city, said LTC General Manager (Operations) Asad Rehman Gillani talking to a delegation of First Bus Urban Transport Company.
First Bus Transport Company Managing Director Noor-ud-Din Ahmed headed the delegation. General Manager (Finance) Adnan Mudassar and senior officers of the LTC were also present in the meeting. Noor said that 68 new and re-conditioned buses will be operated on the route of general bus stand to Jallo. He said the number of new and refurbished buses will be plying on the route of RA Bazar to Sandha shortly.
He said that Urban Transport Operation will be carried out through public private partnership. He said that First Bus Transport Company will comply with the all relevant rules and regulations framed for the urban bus operation and ensure the imperatives of road discipline, security and safety for the general public. He said that modernized tracking system has been installed in the new and refurbished buses which will help LTC for monitoring and performance evaluation of the buses.
He hoped that LTC will evolve a viable business model for urban transport companies so that sustainability, development and attainment of objectives for which LTC was created, could be attained. Mudassar said that LTC will facilitate the private sector transport companies for the provision of relief to the masses.
