KARACHI – The All Parties Conference (APC) on peace in Karachi to be held on January 31 has been postponed until further notice, Chief Minister’s House spokesman said on Friday. The notification came after the MQM, earlier in the day, asked the PPP to convene an APC in the Punjab province, as it was more needed there due to the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation.
The demand was made by MQM’s Wasay Jalil while talking to reporters, after a PPP delegation led by ND Khan visited Nine Zero to formally invite the MQM for the APC convened by the Sindh government. Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro and PPP Karachi President Najmi Alam accompanied Khan on his visit. Jalil said the MQM has received the invitation for the APC and the party’s Coordination Committee would decide for its participation after consideration.
Meanwhile, another team of the PPP led by Senior Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq headed to the Kingri House and delivered the APC invitation to PML-F chief Pir Pagaro.
Another team headed by senior leader of the PPP, Taj Haider visited the residence of SNP leader Ameer Banbhro and also invited him for the APC. ANP Sindh President Shahi Syed, whose party was also invited to the APC, said that his party had accepted the invitation; however, it would not make a difference.
