Rivals in police uniform kill woman

FAISALABAD – A long-running family vendetta took one life when attackers came in the uniform of Elite Force and shot dead a 22-year-old married woman in her house. Reportedly, a group of men wearing police uniform shot down Saima Sahi of Chak No 186 RB Dhilam near Chak Jhumra, in her house and escaped. The victim family had an old enmity with another group of the area and several men from both the sides have been murdered in the blood feud.
The victim Saima Sahi’s two brothers were killed by the same group a few months ago and she was the plaintiff in their murder trial. Presumably, she was killed by the opponents to obstruct the course of justice in the murder trial of her two brothers. The victim was married to Ehtesham Basra, a resident of Chak No 155 RB, who was an absconder in another murder case and was living in her parents’ house. Chak Jhumra police shifted the dead body to the Allied Hospital for postmortem.
Police inspector robbed of cash, valuables: A police officer was robbed at gunpoint by a gang of dacoits when he was returning home after performing his duties. Reportedly, Inspector Zaheeruddin posted at Faisalabad Special Branch was returning home on his motorcycle. When he reached near the Sandal Bar area in the vicinity of Chak No 29 JB, three unidentified armed men stopped him at gunpoint and snatched his motorcycle, Rs 2,200 and a mobile phone from him and fled away.
Slain woman’s body recovered: Police are looking for the killers of a 40-year-old woman whose dead body was recovered from a flower nursery. The residents of Ahmed Garden called the Factory Area police and informed them of a dead body dumped in a flower nursery in the area. The victim’s throat had been cut with a sharp weapon and there were signs of resistance as the victim’s right hand had also been injured.
Police hunting for bomb hoax callers: A bomb disposal squad rushed to Millat Chowk when two unknown teenage boys gave the false information of a bomb. A witness said that two teenage boys, using a wireless set, called the emergency unit at 15 and told them that a bomb was planted near a bakery in Millat Chowk. The police and intelligence service personnel cordoned off the area but nothing was recovered during the search operation.
Madina Town SP Sadiq Ali Dogar told journalists that two mischievous boys, using a wireless set, gave false information about a bomb. The police are tracing them, he added.
SIX POLICEMEN INDICTED ON BRIBERY CHARGE: An assistant sub inspector and five constables, who illegally forced an entry into the house of a citizen through a ladder and took him to police station to extort money were indicted on the charge of robbery.
The complainant, Atif Shoaib, told the Iqbal Town SP that ASI Khalil Ahmed and his five subordinates arrested him from his house, took him to D-Type Police Station and received Rs 22,000 as a bribe for his release. The accused police party was suspended and an inquiry initiated against them.
