LAHORE – A spokesman of Mines and Minerals Department Punjab has said that all rights and privileges of Chiniot-Rajoa iron ore project are vested in the government of Punjab and that the only external actors involved are consultancy services.
The spokesman elaborated that the Punjab government has planned development of its iron ore resources in a scientific manner and approved a road map with the final objective to establish a steel mill in Punjab. It was indicated that as a first step, hydrological and geotechnical studies are being conducted to evaluate the iron ore deposits.
The spokesman said that for this purpose, six boreholes in Chiniot and 25 boreholes in Rajoa are planned as per international quality standards.
