Punjab girls notch U-16 athletics title

LAHORE – The Punjab U-16 girls athletics team won the PSB Inter-Provincial Youth U-16 girls Athletics Championship held from January 24 to 25 in Karachi. They secured 68 points to clinch the title while Sindh secured 55 points and KPK declared third with 35 points.
The Punjab team won five gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Sahbe Asra from Punjab was declared the best athlete of the events. Dr Mohammad Ali Shah was the chief guest. In the final girls athletics events, Sara Mumtaz from Punjab got the first position and Musawara was second while the 200m, 400m and 800m races were won by Sahbe Asra from Punjab and got Rs 10,000 as she remained invincible.
Meanwhile, the Sports Board Punjab is holding a ceremony today (Thursday) at 11 am to honour its girls in a ceremony. They will be given cash awards.
