Poverty reduction: a must

Poverty is a great problem. It also perpetrates more problems. In fact most of the crimes that occur are due to poverty, except for countries where the minimum necessities of life are met. No matter how much moral the person is, if the poverty threatens his or her life then he is likely to indulge into such criminal acts and could try to attack the prevailing social structure.

Poverty and crime go hand in hand. One cannot deal with crime without dealing with the root causes of crime such as poverty. Poverty can be a burden for those who lack social connections such as jobs, family support, or friends but not always. It can also be the product of misfortune, ill health, disadvantages, or victimisation or may be, in a sense, self-inflicted, due to addictions.

Pakistan is a poor country. Its economy is facing fluctuations now a day. At the time of independence, Pakistan had low resources and capital, so the processes of progress were very slow. Unfortunately the politicians of Pakistan are not well aware of modern global system and the progress processes and the needs of country.

It is difficult to point out all causes of poverty in our country. The government is not well aware of present conditions of the country. The policies of government are based on the suggestions of officials which do not have awareness about the problems of a common man. After implementation the policies do not get effective result. After the failure of one policy, government does not consider its failure and announces another policy without studying the aftermaths of the last one.

Heavy taxes and unemployment crush the people and they are forced to live below poverty line. Corruption is another cause of poverty. The literacy rate of our country is very low. Most of people do not have any concept about modern earning sources. Most people are unable to adopt technology for their business needs, thats why business does not meet international standards and results which leads the society to poor financial conditions.

The main reason for poverty is social dishonesty and irresponsible behaviour of people. Everyone is trying to get rich by using unfair means. Poor access to health services, large family size, gender discrimination and vulnerability to environmental degradation and deterioration of the natural resource are some more causes for poverty.
