‘Govt sympathetic to teachers reservations’

LAHORE – Senior Adviser to Chief Minister Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that the teachers are main pillar of Education System. Keeping in view their importance in education system, the Government has great regards for them and ready to consider their demands sympathetically.
He said that their reservations regarding Boards of Governors (BOGs) of 26-colleges would be removed and their interests would be fully safeguarded. He expressed these views while meeting a delegation of Punjab Professors and Lectures Association (PPLA) led by President (PPLA) Dr. Zahid here today. Minister for Education Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman and Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah Khan were also present on the occasion.
Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that the case about BOGs of 26-colleges is under trial in the Court and government will honour the judgement of the Court in this regard. He further stated that the main object of establishment BOGs and other government measures is improve the standard of college education by making free the institutions from negative affect of academy mafia.
Senior Advisor stated that the meeting of all BOGs of 26-colleges have been held and all the Boards have declared through a resolution that their will no enhancement in college fee and it will be only increased by the approval of Education Department. The delegation was assured that all the teachers posted in 26-colleges were government servants and their service would be governed under Punjab Civil Service Rules.
He further stated that the BOGs will have no authority to sale out the college property. The delegation demanded that the concerned law be amended in the light of their demands. The Law Minister told that government may consider new legislation in this regard with the consultation of PPLA. The head of delegation told the Minister’s and Senior Advisor that PPLA favours the legal action against absentee teachers as they are damaging the reputation of teacher community.
