Girl shot dead for resisting robbery

GUJRANWALA – A 25-year-old girl was gunned down for resisting a robbery to save her dowry late last night in village Fatehpur of Gakhar Police Station. Reportedly, five armed robbers entered the house of the late Muhammad Boota, took the whole family hostage and collected Rs 250,000, household valuables and gold jewellery.
Sadia, who was to be married next month, offered resistance on which the robbers shot her dead and fled away.
OBITUARY: Gujranwala Cantonment Board member Col (retd) Syed Mahmood Hassan passed away after a protracted illness. Corps Commander Lt-Gen Raheel Sharif and other military and civil officers participated in the funeral prayers.
He was laid to rest at Army Graveyard. The deceased was a brother of former MNA Begum Nafeesa Khalid.
