Aisam returns home

LAHORE – Pakistan’s No. 1 tennis player and recepient of President’s Award for Pride of Performance Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi returned home Wednesday after participating in year’s first grandslam tennis championship, Australian Open.
Aisam played the pre-quarter final of the men’s double event together with Rohan Bopanna of India. The duo lost a closely contested match with a score of 6-3, 6-7, 6-7 to the no. 8 seeds Nenad Zimonjic and Michael Llodra. This is the best performance ever by a Pakistani in Australian Open.
On his arrival, Aisam said that he was not satisfied with his performance and he would try to overcome the shortcomings. He said he was still working for flood relief efforts and was in talks with big names in the game. He said the memorabilia of tennis’ great players will be auctioned to raise unds for flood relief efforts.
