Qasim promises to revamp hockey structure

LAHORE – The Pakistan hockey team management will be given a free hand during tours and series so that they would be answerable for the team’s performance.
Talking to journalists here on Tuesday, PHF president Qasim Zia said that the selection committee will only be eligible for selection of the players during training camps.
He further said that he wanted to develop a solid domestic hockey structure so that future hockey officials don’t face any problem in the revamping of the game and the team is also able to produce consistent results. He informed that the cash award announced by the prime minister for the Asian gold medal winning Pakistan team will be given to the team by next week.
Qasim said that Egypt’s national team will visit Pakistan in April, which will pave the way for foreign team’s visit to Pakistan. About the chief coach, he said that he will reach Pakistan on February 5 to supervise the coaching course. He further stated that the team management and the selection committee will be announced while keeping in mind the best interest of the game.
