‘MQM must focus on rule of law in Karachi’

GUJRANWALA – Former Federal Minister and PML-N leader Ghulam Dastgir Khan has criticised the MQM for supporting martial law in the Punjab and added that the ethnic party should concentrate on the rule of law in Karachi and adopt better attitude to become a mainstream political party instead of promoting target killings.
While talking to PML-N USA chapter office-bearer Nasir Ahmad Butt, Khan expressed deep concern over target killings in Karachi and MQM’s alleged involvement in it. He said, “Ethnicity has no future in the politics of the country and Altaf Hussain’s myth is no longer acceptable to the masses.” PML-N’s visionary leadership was serving the people of the Punjab and setting a good example whereas MQM had failed to even maintain the rule of law and peace in Karachi, he concluded.
GOVERNMENT URGED TO END ENERGY CRISIS: Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) President Sheikh Sarwat Ikram has urged the federal government to strengthen the economy by overcoming energy crisis in the country and plan long-term policies for consolidating progress and welfare of the masses. He stated this while talking to a delegation of the local trade traders who called on him the other day.
Sarwat was flanked by vice presidents Muhammad Saeed Butt and Sohail Yousaf as well. Sarwat Ikram added that gas and power crises had broken the back of the economy of the country. He said, “Implementing the IMF agenda has been infuriating the poor masses and the lawmakers should focus on facilitating the people instead of depending on foreign donors.”
The private sector should be taken into confidence before making new policies so that progress in right direction to a stable economy could be initiated, he emphasized.
