PESHAWAR – Unidentified militants attacked the house of Awami National Party’s Senator Zahid Khan on Tuesday, killing one and wounding three others, including his brother. Police said Senator Zahid Khan’s house in Timergarah area of Lower Dir was attacked by a dozen attackers.
They said the assailants opened indiscriminate fire on the house, killing one person. Hospital sources said Muhammad Ayub, the wounded brother of Senator Zahid Khan, and two other injured were in a critical condition. Ayub is the general secretary of ANP Lower Dir and was also injured in a suicide attack a year ago.
Family sources said they were in confusion since they could not see the assailants or determine their exact number because of the darkness. ANP leaders and workers have been assassinated by Taliban for supporting the security forces fighting militancy.
