Hospitals receive 10 dead bodies and 75 injured

LAHORE – Mayo Hospital and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Tuesday received around 75 injured and 10 dead bodies including four policemen, one woman, one minor and five others after the Tuesday’s suicide bombing.
Rescue 1122, Edhi Foundation, Pakistan Red Crescent Society and other welfare organisation ambulances transported the bodies and injured. The injured included seven policemen, children and passers-by. Mayo Hospital Medical Superintendent Zahid Pervaiz said 22 injured were critical. Rescue 1122 officials said they shifted 35 people to Mayo Hospital and three Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
Edhi Ambulance Service shifted 30 injured to Mayo Hospital and 10 bodies the mortuary. Six injured were taken to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where their condition is reported to be out of danger. Relatives of the injured and dead rushed to the Mayo Hospital and a huge rush was witnessed, which caused problems for the administration in helping the injured.
Relatives of the injured and dead were in deep shock and expressed their concerns over the attack. Mayo Hospital Dr Atif told Pakistan Today that they received many injured including policemen, women and children. He said that around nine policemen were injured, two of them critical. Atif said more than 20 people are critical.
He said the hospital was working on emergency. Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor visited the hospital after the blast. Talking to Pakistan Today, he said that terrorists had failed to achieve their target, as the suicide bomber blew him up behind the main procession due to strict security measures. He paid tribute to policemen who lost their lives in the blast and saved lives of other people.
