Farid Kathia inaugurates Rs 380 million uplift project

SAHIWAL – Federal Minister Mehar Ghulam Farid Kathia inaugurated a development project worth Rs 380 million in Noor Shah. Under the project, development schemes of electricity, Sui gas, drainage and roads would be completed in Harappa and Noor Shah.
Speaking on this occasion, the federal minister said it was the first and foremost duty of the federal government to provide all basic facilities to the people. He added the government would make all-out efforts to create job opportunities for jobless youth, besides taking concrete steps to lower the high prices of daily-use items.
STUDENT KILLED, 3 INJURED IN ROAD ACCIDENT: A student was killed while three female students were injured as a speedy motorcycle collided with a rickshaw on DPS Road. Reportedly, a speedy motorcycle collided with a rickshaw on DPS Road, resulting in the death of motorcyclist Wasi Ahmed, a 16-year-old student, and injuries to three female students, Maheen, Noreen and Sadia. Rescue 1122 reached the spot and took the injured to the DHQ hospital.
STRAY BULLET CLAIMS LIFE: A security guard of a CNG station at GT Road was killed by a stray bullet in a rickshaw. It is learnt that the security guard sat in the rickshaw to take shelter in the severe cold. A stray bullet hit his body, injuring him seriously. He was being rushed to hospital, but expired on the way.
RALLY AGAINST PROPOSED AGRO TAX: The dealers, traders, businessmen and labourers of Ghalla Mandi continued strike on the 9th day against the imposition of the proposed agriculture tax. A large number of dealers, traders, businessmen and labourers participated in the rally which passed through all the bazaars of Ghala Mandi and ended at Jogi Chowk where the speakers raised slogans against the government and called it the tax death of farmers, dealers and labour class.
The said the prices of the crops would increase and unemployment would double. They warned the government not to levy the tax otherwise dealers, commission agents, labourers and formers would start an agitation.
