LAHORE – The US Consulate Lahore office Economic Officer Jessica Berlow and Economic Specialist Shahid Abbas on Monday visited Kujer village in Sheikhupura to see community service projects started by Rotary International. Rotary International District Governor Shehzad Ahmed and Assistant Governor Iqbal Malik organized.
The guests were given a warm welcome by the villagers. They visited Government Elementary Girls’ School where Rotary provided basic necessities such as furniture, washrooms, electric water cooler and school supplies to the students. They interacted with the students and distributed ‘End Polio Now’ pencils among the girls and also informed them about the importance of polio drops. They visited a house where one of the buffaloes was donated. More than 130 buffalos and cows and 100 goats have been donated in villages in Sheikhupura and Faisalabad.
The guests were taken to computer centre and community library in the village. Both the facilities are being used by the residents of Kujer and surrounding villages. They also saw one of the sewing machines donated to start vocational centres in many villages. They were happy to see the grass-root level involvement of Rotary members in the community service projects. Rotary Club Lahore Assistant Governor Shaheen Ahmed, Secretary Shafqat Ali and many other members participated in the visit. Representatives of many Rotary Community Corps (RCCs) were also present during the visit.
