Rangers take charge of Imam Hussain’s chehlum security

LAHORE – Pakistan Rangers troops on Monday assumed charge of their security duties in order to avoid any untoward incident during Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) on Wednesday (today).
The Pakistan Rangers spokesman told Pakistan Today that Rangers officials have been deployed on special request of Punjab Government and Federal Government to maintain law and order on Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A).
He said that Rangers troops have been deployed at and around sensitive places in the provincial capital, in Chakwal districts, in Rawalpindi and in Islamabad. He told that around three hundred Pakistan Rangers staff of have been deputed in the provincial capital, a similar number in Rawalpindi, around two hundred in Chakwal and around hundred in Islamabad.
He said that troops of Pakistan Rangers are purely dependent on the city district government’s officials. He said that the every DCO and police high ups will decide about the spots for Rangers troops. He said that usually troops of Pakistan Rangers usually perform their duties at outer cordon of the security.
Here it would be pertinent to mention here that Lahore Police has already devised a comprehensive security plan on Imam Hussain’s Chelum and more than 12,000 police and armed personnel were ordered to provide security to people. The district administration will establish crisis management centers that will operate round the clock, while a special control room has also been set up in the CCPO office for coordination.
CCPO Muhammad Aslam Tareen directed the divisional superintendents of police to monitor security arrangements in their areas of jurisdiction. The CCPO said he would make surprise visits to review the security arrangements. Health Department has also issued instructions to heads of all autonomous health institutions, teaching hospitals,
district and tehsil headquarter hospitals, special medical institutions and health executive district officers to complete arrangements for provision of first-aid to mourners and to cope with any untoward situation during chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).
Written instructions have been issued to all officers concerned by the health department for provision of timely medical assistance to mourners participating in processions and majalis on chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).
Health department officers have been directed to ensure availability of senior administrative and medical staff and sufficient beds to meet any eventuality, sufficient quantity of all life-saving medicines, vaccines, disposables and linen.
They have been directed to ensure that bio-medical equipment, machines, patient lifts and stand-by generators remain in working order, operation theatres are fully functional and properly manned while functional ambulances along with trained staff and medicines are also available. Officials have been directed to maintain sufficient quantities of blood bags of all blood groups along with a list of donors.
Chehlum traffic plan ready
LAHORE – The City Traffic Police have finalized a comprehensive plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain and Urs Hazrat Data Gunj Bukhsh on Tuesday. The Traffic Police also established a control room to coordinate with the traffic management force during the main Chehlum procession and Urs and citizen may get guidance from emergency line 04299201910.
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Ahmed Mubeen on Monday said that 3 SPs, 7 DSPs, 30 Inspectors, 703 Wardens and 5 emergency squads have been setup to control the traffic. The flow of traffic would be controlled by providing diversions on various routes to facilitate the participants of processions and Urs and citizen of Lahore. CTO said that all vehicles would be allowed to park at proper designated places and any roadside parking would be strictly prohibited.
He said the roads leading to the route of main procession of Chehlum and shrine of Data Sahib would be closed for traffic however these would be remained clear for the ambulances and Fire Brigade vehicles. The traffic entering the city from Shahdra Ravi Bridge would sent to Lorry Adda and Railway Station through Azadi Chowk while Sagian Chowk to Kutchehry Road would be closed for every type of traffic.
