ISLAMABAD – An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted Pakistan’s Northern Areas, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and federal capital of the country at 7:45am on Monday but no lose of life or property was reported. Pakistan Met Office’s spokesman said the epicenter of quake lied in Tajkistan, 530 km north of Islamabad with 83 km depth.
He added that severe tremors were felt in North Waziristan, Mansehra, Chitral and adjacent areas while moderate earthquake was felt in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The met office termed the earthquake as moderate in the seismically active zone with no forecast of after shocks.
