ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) will initiate a talent hunt programme from school level to prepare players who could represent Pakistan in the international circuit. “The tennis players will be given central contracts, enabling them to fully concentrate on their game and bring a good name to the country,” Senior Vice President, PTF, Irshad Bhatti said here on Sunday.
“We are also going to open tennis academies at tehsil and district levels to make this sport more popular among our youth,” he told APP in an exclusive interview. Irshad Bhatti said that in a bid to pull the federation out of financial crisis, fund raising dinners will be organized inside and outside the country.
He expressed the confidence that the federation will soon resolve its financial matters. Stressing for a complete restructuring of the sports system in the country, he said that PTF would purge politics from tennis and encourage professionalism in the game.
