Islamic calligraphy exhibition opens

LAHORE – Calligraphy exhibition of Jamshed Qaiser at Native Art Gallery in Defence Housing Authority was inaugurated by Director General of Iranian Cultural Center, Dr. Abbas Famurie on Monday.
More than 30 masterpieces of Islamic Calligraphy mesmerized the people who came to see the artistic work of Jamshed Qaiser. Calligraphy of “Surah Ikhlas”, verse of “Surah Rehman”, “Allah Ho” and other Islamic verses were hanged on the walls of Native Art Gallery. Poster Colours and ink was used in the calligraphy.
Jamshed Qaiser has been teaching in Iranian Cultural Center for ten years, and has exhibited his work in various European countries. His artwork is also placed at the Museums of Moscow and Kuwait. While talking to Pakistan Today, Jamshed said that he tried different things in his calligraphy to set new trends.
He said that, he tried to blend abstract art and calligraphy. The concept of his calligraphy was conceived by Italian art, he added. The price range of different masterpieces ranged from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000. Moon was evident in most of his masterpieces, on asking he said that he has always loved to draw moon in his calligraphy, he claimed that no one has used innovative colours and graphics in the calligraphy in our country.
As the exhibition inaugurated, the rush of people was visible in the art gallery. The exhibition would continue till Saturday in which various eminent personalities are expected to come. People, who came to see the exhibition, appreciated the efforts of the artists and said that it is quite nice to witness a different artistic work.
They said that the blend of abstract art and calligraphy was wonderful to see and today’s art needs innovation, which was provided by Jamshed Qaiser. A regular visitor of art exhibitions, Waris Ali said that it was amazing to see the artwork of such high talented artists in the country, and the typical Pakistani art should be encouraged, which can also improve our image. He said that the prices are also reasonable.
Chief Guest, Director General of Iranian Cultural Center, Dr. Abbas Famurie, who inaugurated the exhibition also praised the artistic work of Jamshed Qaiser. The Calligrapher briefed him about his different works, whereas the Chief Guest took deep interest in the calligraphy.
