Girls’ school blown up in Khyber Agency

PESHAWAR – Some unidentified armed men blew up a girls’ school on Monday in Khyber Agency. Khyber Agency’s administration said the armed men planted explosives in the girls’ school in Landi Kotal, Sub-Division of Khyber Agency and added that the explosion damaged three rooms and the boundary wall of the school. It said the attack did not cause any causality and no militant group had taken the responsibility of the attack.
It further said various militant groups were involved in attacks on security forces’ bases, Nato containers, government installations and government schools in the Khyber Agency while the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Islam, Ansarul Islam and various others were carrying their activities in the agency.
It said the suspected militants had blown up nearly 1,000 schools during the recent years in district Swat, Bajaur, Mohmand and Khyber tribal agencies, Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan and other districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It added that the security forces had launched operations in different parts of the agency to flush out the militants but the situation was not in total control.
The local tribal people had expressed serious concerns over the security situation in the agency and condemned the attacks on schools and government installations in the presence of additional security forces in the area.
