KARACHI – There is nothing wrong with calling out the army in Karachi if it helps restore peace in the city, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Sunday.
“There is no outside force involved in targeted killings in Karachi and it is the ‘home’ forces that are responsible for whatever is happening in the city,” he told journalists at a luncheon.
His statement came a day after PML-F chief Pir Pagara said that as the government has failed to maintain law and order in Karachi, imposing martial law in the city could improve its law and order situation.
Speaking on the occasion, PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain said that contradictory statements made by the provincial government authorities have forced him to think who is running the Sindh government’s affairs.
He said that when a Sindh minister talks about imposing curfew in Karachi, the provincial government contradicts it. Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry President Shafiq Saeed and businessmen Abdul Karim Dhedhi, Shaikh Manzar Alam and others were also present on the occasion.
