LAHORE – Five armed robbers looted valuables including gold ornaments, cash, laptops and cellular phones worth around Rs 10 millions from a house located in the Township Police Station precincts on Sunday.
According to details, robbers armed with automatic weapons entered businessman Haji Abdul Hammed’s house and took his son Rameez and two servants hostage. The robbers locked all family members in a room and escaped after robbing valuables including 100 tolas of gold, Rs 0.7 million and foreign currencies including dirhams and euros in cash, two laptops, two cellular phones and an American gun.
After the robbers fled, Hammed’s family informed police, which after reaching the spot recorded statements of the family. Afterwards, Township Police registered a case against five unidentified men and started investigation. Talking to Pakistan Today, Hammed said that his family has not been able to calculate the total loss but have registered a case.
He said that policemen have cooperated with his family and prepared sketches of the unidentified robbers. Hammed said that CIA Police investigators also visited his house and hoped that the criminals would soon be arrested. He said that robbers managed to enter the house when his son was going outside. Hammed said that the criminals had parked their car behind Rameez’s car and started asking for an address.
He said that within no time, five men equipped with weapons came out of the car and took Rameez and other family members hostage on gunpoint. Hammed said that the robbers did not torture any family member or touch women present in the house.
