QUETTA – Balochistan assembly’s Saturday session ended in a brawl when some ministers belonging to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl used abusive language against Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid group’s senior leader Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mundokhail and even tried to pounce on him, completely disregarding the presence of female members in the house.
The assembly session with Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhootani in the chair was to hold a two hour debate on the martyrdom of young reporter of Geo TV Channel Wali Khan Babar who was assassinated in Karachi last week and on important matters like amending “Balochistan Provincial Employees Group Insurance Act, 2009”.
The brawl started when Jaffar Mundokhail praised the Chief Secretary Balochistan Ahmad Bakhsh Lahri for resolving the long awaited dispute of black marketing of dynamite used for blasting in chromites mining in Killa Saifullah and for making it available in the open market.
While quoting the people of the area, Mundokhail told the house that these people said to him that they complained to commissioner Zhob division about the black marketing of chromites and urged him to allow other people to sell dynamite, but the commissioner had told them in return that if he did that, the Senior Minister of JUI(F) Maulana Abdul Wasey would beat him with sandals.
On these remarks, the Labour Minister Sarwar Musakhail told Jaffar Mundokhail not to say anything in the absence of senior minister and started using abusive language against him. Another JUI minister Ainullah Shams instead of halting his colleague for using un-parliamentary language jumped into the fray and also started abusing Mundokhail.
Both JUI ministers went to the seat of PML(Q) leader and tried to pounce on him. However PPP leader Sadiq Umrani, Asad Baloch of Balochistan National Party, Abdul Khailq Achakzai of PML(N), Eng. Izmarak Khan of Awami National Party and many other came to the rescue of PML(Q).
In the meanwhile the speaker had to adjourn the session for 15 minutes. The speaker and members from different parties played a mediatory role by persuading the both sides to bury their hatchets. Later the speaker called the house into session but it could not meet for the want of quorum.
Jaffar Mundokhail perturbed the health minister Ainullah Shams by questioning the process of local purchase of medicines in his department and said that the answer he had given was not satisfactory because district set ups had already been abolished. Bhootani requested the reporters to not to repeat the footages of brawl on the channels.
