LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved procurement of another 50 mobile health units (MHUs) for providing medical facilities to people of far flung and backward areas at their doorsteps, Punjab Health Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad said on Friday.
The secretary said that the Punjab government has chalked out a programme to provide MHUs to every tehsil. He said that in phases, all tehsils of Punjab would be equipped with a mobile hospital and after approval of the CM, the health department has invited tenders from national and international firms for procurement of MHUs.
Fawad said that provision of best treatment facilities to people is top priority of the Punjab government for which all resources are being utilised. The MHUs already provided to different districts are extending diagnostic and treatment facilities to people free of cost and nobody is authorised to charge any fee from patients visiting the MHUs, he said.
