KARACHI – The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) will cooperate completely with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Punjab, in the hopes that the MQM will cooperate with the PML-Q in Sindh, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Friday during a visit to MQM headquarters, Nine-Zero.
Over a conversation via telephone, MQM chief Altaf Hussain concurred and said that the two parties have and will work together for the sake of the country.
“As long as patriotism is alive in Pakistan, there will be no compromise over the security or sovereignty of the country. At one end, Pakistan faces immense economic and political challenges; while at the other end, the situation at the borders is also cause for concern,” Hussain said. “Forces from neighbouring countries shoot at will without any aggression from Pakistan. The PML-Q has been condemning this consistently, but the foreign office should take note of this as well. The MQM has had a long association with the PML-Q; an association that will continue for the sake of the security and prosperity of Pakistan.”
The MQM chief maintained that the judicial use of the natural resources of the country would make it one of the richest in Asia without any assistance from foreign powers. He added that the security situation in Punjab was deteriorating with speed; and the incidence of targeted killing, kidnapping, and violence against women was higher in Punjab than anywhere else in Pakistan.
He then commented on the situation in Balochistan and said that citizens of the province were dissatisfied with the treatment meted out to them, and that, they should be treated “like one of us”.
he will spill beans in 3 days: Earlier Shujaat said he would tell the nation who is behind the targeted killings in Karachi after three days. He said this while speaking at a ‘Meet the Press’ programme in the Karachi Press Club on the first day of his three-day visit to the metropolis.
