ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan on Friday announced the federal capital would soon get its own provincial assembly. While addressing a ceremony for the allotment of land for lawyers’ chambers, he said the status of Islamabad was like a small province, so, administratively, the capital city could not be shadowed by any of the provinces. He said the residents of Islamabad would have their own provincial assembly and the system of self-governance. He, however, did not comment on modalities regarding the establishment of the proposed Islamabad provincial assembly.
