Lahore – A large number of University of Education (UoE) students staged a protest outside the Punjab Assembly (PA) on Thursday against sacking of UoE IT Director Anwar Rehman Pasha and his wife Shaheen. They demanded officials concerned to take stern action against people who thrashed students during Wednesday’s protest, and chanted slogans against Pasha and his wife’s termination. Protesters said that IT students are not allowed to enter varsity premises and IT students, including females, living in hostels, have been expelled.
They claimed that UoE vice chancellor, should have a PhD degree but present VC Farhat Saleem possesses an MPhil degree due to which he should be removed and terminated teachers be reinstated. Usman, who was injured during Wednesday’s protest, said that the committee, which was formed to look into the matter, should take a decision as early as possible and students would continue protesting until their demands are met.
