Pakistan captain Misbha-ul-Haq scored the highest number of runs while team-mate Umar claimed the highest number of wickets in the just concluded Test matches between Pakistan and New Zealand. Pakistan won the series 1-0. The Pakistani skipper scored 231 runs at an average of 115.50 and a strike rate of 38.88 with three half-centuries in as many innings of two Test matches. He hit 30 fours and one six in this series. Martin Guptill scored 163 runs at 40.75 and a strike rate of 34.38 with two fifties in four innings of two Test matches. He hit 23 fours and one six in four innings.
Umar Gul claimed 13 wickets at an average of 20.00 and an economy rate of 3.04 in two Test matches. Chris Martin was the most successful bowler for hosts. The right handed pacer claimed nine wickets at 27.88 with economy rate of 3.01 in two Test matches.
Daniel Vettori scored the only century of the series. The New Zealand skipper scored 110 in the second and final Test match at Wellington. For Pakistan, Misbah-ul-Haq’s 99 was the highest score of the series.
Five bowlers on six occasions, three each from both sides, claimed a four-wicket haul. Umar Gul was the only bower to take two four-wicket hauls in the series. He did the same in the both innings of Wellington Test. After winning the series 1-0, Pakistan continued to maintain their excellent stats in New Zealand. Their record of eight wins in 15 matches in New Zealand since 1990 is at par with Australia’s. Also, Pakistan continued their excellent run in Wellington, where they have not lost a single match since 1990.
