Group sticks to its decree on attending Taseer’s funeral

LAHORE – The Jamiat Ahle-e-Sunnat on Thursday said that it sticks to its decree against offering former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer’s funeral. Addressing party workers in the Pegham-e-Hussain Conference at Alhamra, JAP chief Riaz Hussain said, “The West conspires to distort our faith by using aid as a tool but the Ahl-e-Sunnat will not succumb to such tactics. We advised our members to stay away from funeral of the desecrator because Islam advised us to do so. Our party fully stands by its decree without mincing even a single word”.
Former federal religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi got a standing ovation when he entered the conference hall. Speaking on the occasion, Kazmi termed his opponents as followers of Yazid and said that their accusations would cause no harm to him because his hands are clean. Speakers applauded clerics who urged people not to take part in Taseer’s funeral and audience chanted slogans in Taseer’s killer Mumtaz Qadri’s favour. Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat Pakistan chief Mazhar Saeed Kazmi blamed Saudi Arabia and a certain sect for harbouring the campaign against his brother Hamid Saeed Kazmi.
