Zaheer asks speaker to disqualify Saba Sadiq

LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) has approached Speaker Punjab Rana Iqbal Ahmad Khan to disqualify defiant MPA Saba Sadiq.
Opposition Leader of the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheeruddin on Wednesday called on the speaker after the assembly session in his chamber to disqualify member of the house Saba Sadiq, elected from his party (PML-Q), who severed her political affiliation with the party.
PML-Q leader Chaudhry Zaheeruddin provided a copy of the decision of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saba Sadiq to the Speaker requesting that he forward a disqualification reference to the Election Commission as authorized office within next two days following the court’s verdict.
Saba Sadiq was elected as MPA from the PML-Q but later disowned her party and become part of the dissident group of the party in the provincial assembly. Although she elected was MPA and remains an active political figure in the PML-Q’s last regime but after return of the PML-N’s main leadership especially the Sharif brothers, she had a disagreement with the PML-Q leadership. Saba Sadiq previously was a member of the PML-N before the emergence of the PML-Q in the Musharraf regime.
Opposition leader Chaudhry Zaheeruddin talking to the journalists outside the assembly building after the assembly session on Wednesday said his party would send a reference against every members of his party who severed their affiliation with the basic party in the provincial assembly as per the Constitution of Pakistan. He demanded the government and the Punjab Assembly speaker that they should prove evidence of their firm belief in the independent judiciary and follow the court decision in the case of Saba Sadiq. He said that ‘Lotacracy’ (turn coat) would not prevail in the country as a democratic system and the ‘lotaism’ do not go together.
