LAHORE – The Model Town judicial magistrate on Wednesday handed over Naveed Iqbal, step brother of Supreme Court Justice Javed Iqbal and alleged murderer of his parents, and another accused Abbas on physical remand to the Factory Area Police until January 23. Naveed was arrested on Tuesday on charge of murdering his parents along with Abbas and Ameen over a monetary dispute.
On Wednesday, the Factory Area Police produced the accused before the judicial magistrate and sought their physical remand for seven days to investigate them but the court granted remand for five days. Naveed allegedly murdered his father, former deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Malik Abdul Majeed, and stepmother Zarina with help of two other men.
The accused initially denied the charges before the print and electronic media but later admitted to planning the murder. During the hearing, Naveed once again changed his stance and said that he is innocent and has been involved in the murder case as a conspiracy. The accused would be presented before the magistrate on January 23.
