Kalakot, Singolane triumph at Lyari

LAHORE – Kalakot thrashed Agra Taj 4-0 in Group C as two more league matches were decided in the PFF-KESC Lyari Football League 2011.
Asif struck goals in the 7th and 24th minute, followed by Abdul Aziz, who scored in the 26th minute. The winners led 3-0 at interval. Aziz fired another goal in the 44th minute. Asif Nawaz was named man of the match. Agra Taj finished Group C with only one point.
Earlier, Singolane overcame Baghdadi 3-2 in a tense Group B tie 3-2. Singolane’s Nauman Noor was named man of the match after striking twice in the tight finish match. Nauman struck the net in the 8th and 18th minute, but Baghdadi reduced both the goals in the 10th and 32nd minute through Karam Hussain and Zubair, respectively. It was 2-all at interval. Winger Idrees Rehman snatched the winner for Singolane in the 46th minute.
The quarter finals are slated to run from 20-21 January. On Thursday, Nawalane will face Bihar while Singolane collide with Daryabad. On Friday, Lyari Town locks horns with Hub while the Kalakot – Baghdadi clash will wrap up the quarter-final stage.
Naiman joins National Youth football Camp: Spain-based goalkeeper Naiman Khan reported to coach Tariq Lutfi at the youth camp being held at Model Town Football Academy. Naiman used to guard the cage for Agrupacion Deportiva Pablo Iglesias (ADPI) Rivas, Madrid (Spain). Naiman met the age restrictions of the upcoming show that allowed only players born on or after 1 January 1989.
“The inclusion of Naiman has enhanced the GK strength to nine with Amir Gul (NBP), and Saqib Hanif (PEL) were called on the recommendation of GK Coach Aslam Khan, while I have also permitted Basit Ghafoor (WAPDA) and Ghulam Raza (Quetta), Muzammil Hussain (WAPDA), Muhammad Omer (KESC), Bilal Rafiq (PIA), and Tanveer Mumtaz (YDC Faisalabad) to attaend the camp so that no upcoming talent is overlooked,” said Lutfi.
Lutfi added that 44 players reported in the camp that commenced on Monday in the build up for the Pakistan Youth team to appear in the 2012 Olympic football Asian qualifying tournament. The camp will continue until February 4. Pakistan have been pitted against Malaysia with the first leg to be played in Kuala Lumpur on February 23.
