Cricket Writers Association launched

LAHORE – The Cricket Writers (Journalists) Association was launched on Tuesday at Karachi with an aim to serve the game loved by millions in Pakistan.
Veteran commentator Munir Hussain will be the patron-in-chief of the Association while former Test captains Ramiz Raja and Wasim Akram will hold the offices of President and Senior Vice President respectively.
The Association will provide journalists, photographers and freelance writers a forum to express themselves on a variety of topics, give suggestions for the improvement in the game and provide avenues to the budding cricketers.
The Association will hold ceremonies, and award ceremonies besides arranging debates on a variety of topics related to the game. Surprisingly apart from the cricketers, not a single person was picked from outside Karachi.
The office bearers of the CWAP are: Patron in chief Munir Hussain, Chairman Syed Muhammad Sufi, Patron Arif Ali Khan Abbasi, President Ramiz Raja, Senior Vice President Wasim Akram, Vice President Shahid Akhtar Hashmi, Treasurer Abdul Rasheed Shakoor, General Secretary Iqbal Munir, Press Secretary Faizan Lakhani, Association Ambassador Anisuddin Khan.
Proposed Governing Board members: Osman Samiuddin, Abdul Majid Bhatti, Iqbal Qasim, Khalid Hussain and Rishad Mehmood. The first official function of CWAP will be held on April 10 a week after the World Cup 2011.
