DASKA – Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif has directed the elected representatives, concerned officials and the district heads of the nation-building departments to ensure the transparent utility of the development funds for the social welfare, besides ensuring the maximum benefits of these developmental schemes to the local people.
Addressing an important meeting of the local elected representatives held for reviewing the pace of the ongoing development projects in Sialkot, the CM directed them to work with full devotion, dedication and honesty for providing maximum early relief to the common man. He stressed the need of developing good relations among the people and the government officials through bridging the communication gap in this regard. He said that the government was fully aware of the prolonged perturbing problems being faced by the people and it was making efforts to solve them on priority basis. He added that the government was trying to promote the quality education in the region, besides assuring the smooth provision of commodities to the people on fixed subsidized rates.
He said that the government had also given a special task to local price control magistrates to curb the menace of rising price hike, besides taking stern legal action against the profiteers, hoarders, black marketers and adulterators.
During an important meeting, the district administration of Sialkot gave a detailed briefing to the CM about the under construction several development and social welfare oriented schemes in Sialkot district for making the city a model developed district of Pakistan.
The meeting was told that the reconstruction of main Sialkot-Daska-Gujranwala Road, Sialkot-Eaimanabad Road and duplication of the narrowed small bridges over Naullah Aik near Doburji Malhiyaan and Naikapura-Sialkot was briskly underway. Re-modeling and alignment of Naullah Bhed was also briskly under way with total cost of Rs 72 million for saving the Sialkot city from the flood threats through this Naullah which passes though all the congested residential, commercial and industrial areas of Sialkot Cantt and Sialkot city.
The Punjab government had also provided six acres of land to Govt Postgraduate College for the Women in Sialkot where the new blocks containing additional classrooms and playground would soon be established for catering the growing educational and extra-curriculum activities of the students.
There are more than 9,000 on roll students in this college and the provincial government had also released a special grant of Rs 40 million for the repairing, renovation and reconstruction of the ancient building of Govt Jamia High School Sialkot and Govt Pilot High School Sialkot, besides providing all the basic missing facilities there.
The meeting was further told that the provincial government was also acquiring more than 100 acres of land in the outskirts of Sialkot city for the early establishment of District Complex there and, under this plan, the Sialkot District Courts, offices of the District Administration, Sialkot District Jail and Civil Lines would be shifted to this proposed district complex.
